“It all starts with being there!”

As a sailor, I know where to put my photo boat or the helicopter: Avoiding making a wind-shadow and getting the action of the sailors before they disappear behind the sails. Living a photographers life for over 50 years, from processing my own black and white to right away embracing the digital revolution, has been a joy on the water and a privilege.

Swiss born, Daniel Forster is an acclaimed yachting and adventure photographer. Since becoming a freelance photographer in 1974, he has covered 14 America’s Cups and 12 Olympic Games, with his work featured in TIME, National Geographic, STERN, and major yachting magazines worldwide. TIME has twice featured his America’s Cup images on its cover. Daniel has documented iconic teams, global races, and Rolex yachting events, and has been commissioned by leading yacht owners to chronicle their campaigns. Daniel has been based in Rhode Island since 1988 and moved to Jamestown in 2000. He is still covering yacht races in the USA and Europe, covering, for instance, the Rolex Yachting events, the New York Yacht Club events and the Newport Bermuda Race. Plus, he enjoys sailing with his partner Paula, racing locally, and spending time on the water with family and friends.
