Submitting Photos Electronically to NPG
Please follow these guidelines when preparing photos for a Newport Photo Guild exhibit.
Option 1: Lightroom
Select your photo and click Export.
Under Export To, choose Hard Drive.
Choose Desktop as the location. You may create a folder called NPG.
Under File Naming, select Rename To → Custom Name.
Enter your file name:
Firstname_Lastname_TitleofImage
Under File Settings:
Format: JPEG
Quality: 80
Color Space: sRGB
Under Image Sizing:
Check Resize to Fit
Select Long Edge
Enter 2500 pixels
Under Output Sharpening, select Screen.
Click Export.
Attach the exported JPG to your email and send it to nptphotoguild@gmail.com using the exhibit name in the subject line.
Tip: Save these settings as a Lightroom preset called NPG so you can use them for future submissions.
Before submitting your photos, make sure:
File format is JPG/JPEG
Longest side is no more than 2500 pixels
File size is no more than 2 MB
Color space is sRGB
File name is: Firstname_Lastname_TitleofImage.jpg
Your email is sent to nptphotoguild@gmail.com
The email uses the subject line specified for the exhibit
Include your sale price, if applicable
Option 2: Photoshop
Open your photo and select File → Export → Export As.
Under File Settings:
Format: JPG
Quality: 80
Under Image Size, enter 2500 for the Width or Height, depending on the orientation of your image. The other dimension will adjust automatically.
Check Convert to sRGB.
Click Export.
Choose Desktop as the location.
Rename the file:
Firstname_Lastname_TitleofImage.jpg
Attach the exported JPG to your email and send it to nptphotoguild@gmail.com using the exhibit name in the exhibit subject line.
Final Check Before Sending
Make sure your file:
JPG • 2500 pixels or less on the long side • 2 MB or less • sRGB • Correct filename
Then attach it to your email and submit it to NPG.
Framing Guidelines
Preferred: Black frame with a white or off-white mat. This is recommended but not required.
Canvas and metal prints: These are also acceptable.
Frame size: The longest side of the finished frame must be no more than 30 inches.
Hanging Wire
All framed photos must have wire securely attached across the back for gallery hanging.
Wire and eye-hook kits are readily available at Michaels, Walmart, Home Depot, Ocean State Job Lot, and other local stores.
Please make sure your work is properly wired before bringing it to the gallery
