Upcoming Programs
“My Camera Has Wings”
Confessions of a Digital SLR Photographer who crashed his way to the Sky
September 9th, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Join us for an evening with Jan Armor, a longtime DSLR shooter who traded his tripod for a transmitter and never looked back. This talk follows one photographer's bumpy, occasionally crash-landed journey into drone photography with his DJI Mini 4 Pro drone — the wrong turns, the near-disasters, and the moment 500 feet of altitude changed how he sees the world below.
Expect a live drone takeoff right on stage, real flight photos with the settings and stories behind them, and a short video flyover of Narrow River and the beach. Whether you're curious about adding aerial work to your own portfolio or just want to see what happens when a ground-based photographer takes to the air, this session offers a candid, funny, and visually stunning look at photography from a whole new altitude.
About Jan Armor
Jan Armor is a past president of NPG. He is an award-winning photographer, educator, and lecturer at Salve University and URI. He is the long-time owner of a commercial studio located in Portsmouth, Armor Studio of Photography.
Join us for an evening with John Pitocco
October 7th, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm
“Every Photo Tells a Story”
Every photograph has a story to tell—whether it captures a fleeting moment, evokes an emotion, or preserves a lasting memory. Join photographer John Pitocco as he explores the art of visual storytelling, sharing how composition, light, timing, and perspective work together to create compelling images. Through a collection of his photographs, John will reveal the stories behind the images and offer insights to help photographers create work that resonates with viewers.
About John Pitocco
John Pitocco earned a Certificate in Digital Photography from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2008 and has received numerous awards for his work in fine art shows throughout New England, along with several private exhibitions.
John is active as a juried artist member of the Wickford Art Association, former President of the Board of Directors and head of the Photographic Arts Group. John was recognized as the 2012 Volunteer of the Year presented at the North Kingstown Volunteer Winners Award Ceremony for his work with the Wickford Art Association.
John was also the photographer for the "Station Ink" exhibit. Station Ink was held on the 10th Anniversary of the Station Night Club fire.
Join us for an afternoon celebrating the Expressions of Nature Member Exhibit, showcasing the beauty, diversity, and creative interpretation of the natural world.
