Please join us to hear from JR Lynch, Elizabeth O'Connor and Lisa Bergeron….doors open at 6:30.

JR's Overview:  Capturing the heart and soul of a person you do not know with your camera

Subject/Theme: A recent shoot I did of a person I did not know, whom I was talking with and asked for permission to photograph her.

Description: I will explain how I met the person, gained their permission and show the results of the shoot as a "proof sheet" using Lightroom on my Apple/Mac laptop.

Elizabeth's Overview:  My journey with digital infrared photography and how it led me to discover my artistic voice

My presentation will be about my journey with digital infrared photography which I do almost exclusively now.  I will talk about how I tried infrared film and thought it was cool but did not continue with it until...many years later when a presentation by a NPG guest speaker at the NAM showed a Minor White infrared film photo and I was inspired to try it again using my digital camera. I also showed my first digital infrared in a NPG show - which I was hesitant to do because it was so different and before the infrared craze began.

Lisa' Overview: Unleashing Creativity with Presence

Some people believe that the act of taking photos makes us less present. Perhaps because we may be distracted and focused on just getting “the shot”.  But for me, taking photos often draws me into the moment. When I pause before I shoot, I am able to connect to the experience and my surroundings, and that is when my creativity emerges. I am tuned-in to the interesting details - shimmering lights, reflections, texture, colors and the potential to capture a story. My creativity expands during the post production process as I make my creative choices.  I will share photos where I believe presence sparked my creativity process, enhanced observations and helped me create stronger images.
