Instructions for Submitting Photos Electronically to NPG and Framing Guidelines

The following instructions will guide you through the necessary steps in Lightroom and Photoshop to ensure:

• your file size does not exceed a maximum of 2 MB

• that the actual image size does not exceed a long side length of 2500 pixels

• that your filename is adjusted to your firstname_lastname_titleofimage.jpg

• your email is sent to nptphotoguild@gmail.com with the appropriate subject line for the specific exhibit

Lightroom

Select the image you want to export In the Library Module select “Export” located on the lower left of the screen

At the top of the box that appears next to “Export To” select “Hard Drive” Under Heading Export Location

● Under Export To” select “Desktop” from the drop down menu

● Check the box “Put in Subfolder” and add NPG or anything else that you prefer in the box to the right to indicate these are photos for the Newport Photo Guild Under File Naming

● Check the box “Rename To”

● Select “Custom Name” from the drop down list to the right of “Rename To”

● Type last name_first initial_title of image in the box to the right of “Custom Text” using your information Under File Settings

● To the right of “Image Format” select JPEG from the drop down list

● For “Quality” select 80 using the slider or type in the box to the right of the slider

● To the right of “Color Space” select sRGB from the drop down list Under Image Sizing

● Check the box “Resize to Fit”

● Select “Long Edge” from the drop down list in the box to the right of “Resize to Fit”

● Enter 2500 in the box and select “pixels” from the drop down list in the box below “Long Edge” Under Output Sharpening

● Check box “Sharpen for”

● Select “Screen” from the drop down list in the box to the right of “Sharpen for” Click the “Export” button to resize and export your image

● Send the image to nptphotoguild@gmail.com using your email program and attach the images to the email. Be sure to use the appropriate Subject heading for your submission.

Note: You can save the settings by clicking “Add” under the Preset Panel to the left and naming the preset to Photo Guild or any other name that is meaningful to you.

Photoshop

● Under the File menu select “Export” and then “Export As” from the list

In the “Export As” dialog box Under File Settings

● Under “Format” select JPG from the drop down list

● Under “Quality” set 80 using the slider Under Image Size

● Type 2500 into either the Width (for landscape orientation images) or Height (for portrait orientation images) box . The other dimension will automatically change to the proper value.

● Under Color Space, check box labeled “Convert to sRGB”

● Click on the “Export” button

● In the Export dialog box that appears select “Desktop” from the list on the left

● At the bottom, after “File name” replace the file name shown with your last name_first initial_title of image

● Send the image to nptphotoguild@gmail.com using your email program and attach the images to the email. Be sure to use the appropriate Subject heading for your submission.
