Digital
Workflow or "what
do you do with your images after you get them out of your camera." A
round table discussion, lead by local favorite Onne
Van Der Wal, on
this important key to being a successful digital photographer.
- Thursday, 18 June 2009, 6:30-8:30 pm
Paul Giguere, fine art photographer and host
of the highly popular international podcast "Thoughts on Photography," will
present on what it means to live a photographic life:
What does it
mean to be an artist who uses the medium of photography to express
themselves artistically to the world and to themselves. What subjects
do we choose and why? How are we influenced by other photographers,
art, and the world in general? What is this need we have to pull out
a camera and make (or take) a photograph? Why do we love to talk not just
about our photographs, but how we made them?
These are all questions that have
been asked before but, by continually exploring the answers, we continue
to refine our vision, our craft, and our art.
Paul's photographs have been exhibited in galleries, photographic
centers, and museums throughout the United States, and his images
have been published in a variety of photographic books and magazines.

The June meeting includes the annual election of officers.
- Members' Summer Potluck Picnic
Sunday, July 19, 2009, 5:00 PM
Location: the home of Jack and Barbara Renner.
What to Bring: Photo Guild will provide burgers,
hot dogs and beer, wine, and soft drinks. Please bring either an appetizer,
side dish/salad, or desert.
You also might think about bringing a
folding chair that is easy to transport since we don't have enough to go
around.
And bring your camera as we have some interesting shoreline photo
ops here on the property.
HOSPITALITY COMMITTEE COORDINATOR: Martha Barrows.
TO THE MEMBERSHIP:
Thirty-five party-goers attended the picnic on July 19, at the home of
the Renners. As usual, those who couldn't make it missed another great
party which was not only complimented by the great food that everyone
brought, but also by the stunning weather. And, MANY, MANY THANKS to my
committee chair, Martha Barrows, and her able and willing committee -
Tim Revello, Tony Stapleton, Sylvia Hampton, Judy Tate, Don and Jana Jagoe,
and many people who just simply "pitched in" to help out. Certainly
made the Renner's job a lot easier! We had our usual summer picnic "mini
meeting" during which some great ideas were put forward about possible
programs and/or activities the Guild might undertake. There was an especially
interesting proposal by Jan Armor and you will be reading more about that
in the not-too-distant future. And, last, but not least, the annual members
show. As you probably know, the date for the opening is August 29. Nancy
Grinnell informs me that intake will probably be around August 17 and
18 in order to get the Photo Guild accommodated before her staff is plunged
into hanging three major shows which all open on the same day. I am waiting
to hear back from her with a firm and final maximum size and number of
images she feels will be appropriate for our show this year. I will forward
that info the minute it is available. AND, don't forget to take advantage
of Sylvia Hampton's Wednesday evening field
trips.
Here's to great light...
Jack Renner, President
